 Step 1: Rapid Processing – The 24-Hour Window

Why must processing happen within 24 hours?

After fresh fruit bunches (FFB) are harvested, enzymes (lipases) in the fruit rapidly increase free fatty acid (FFA) content. The higher the FFA, the lower the oil quality. Therefore, processing must be completed within 24 hours of harvesting. This urgency requires the mill to be located close to the plantations.
